Week of 3/9- Quadrilaterals Review

This week we had a test on Wednesday. Because of this we spent the days leading up to the test reviewing for it. Some examples of quadrilaterals are polygons, rhombus’, rectangles, squares, kites and trapezoids. Each quadrilateral has specific rules to their angles and sides. Knowing the rules is vital in being able to solve quadrilaterals in geometry because many quadrilateral problems involve solving for the angles and side of different quadrilaterals. You also use these rules to define a quadrilateral when given a problem involving plotting points.

Once I knew the rules for each quadrilateral I found it pretty easy to be able to find the missing angles and/or sides of a quadrilateral. However, for some reason plotting the points and defining what the specific quadrilateral was, was very difficult for me. I didn’t quite understand what the exact rules to defining the quadrilateral. I didn’t know what it meant when they had the same slop or opposite slopes, etc.

personal growth- post # 9

Personal Growth/Reflection due 2/5

Is your progress what you expected it to be?
Yes i believe i have made great progress this year

How is your progress different than your expectations?
I would like to understand concepts faster but i will give myself time

What are you doing in preparation for this class that you are proud of?
I am doing my homework each night and i have the majority of my assignments in on time

What are you doing that you could do better?
I could understand concepts faster, the congruent triangles is sort of confusing me right now. I just need to memorize the different types (ASA, AAS, SAS, SSS) and then hopefully i will be okay.

What is preventing you from doing as well as you could possibly do?
i dont think anything is preventing me, but i would like to be more modivated to do my work, i'm not sure what will motivate me though.

Personal Growth plan:
My personal growth plan includes motivating myself even when I don't feel like it to do my work and review what we are learning at that time period. If I do this hopefully i will understand concepts faster and feel more confident in geometry class :)

see you tomorrowww

Post number 8

Hellllooo

One topic that really sticks in my mind is the pythagorean therom.
To solve the pythagorean therom you need to first have 2 sides of a triangle and then with those 2 sides you can solve the third missing side.
The formula for this therom is a2+b2=c2 (2=squared, i just don't know how to do a squared sign on the computer)
You plug in one of the legs for a and b and for c you plug in the hypotenuse.
This therom is good for real life because if i ever go for a walk or run and want to find the shortest distance back i can find it using the pythagorean therom.
For example if i walk 3 miles and then run 4 miles i can do the pythagorean therom and see that if i go the shortest distance it will take me 5 miles to get back to my starting point. (3,4, and 5 are also pythagorean triples!)
